Sublingual nifedipine results in excellent or good clinical results in approximately 75% of adults with mild to moderate achalasia. For those patients not responding to pharmacotherapy, laparoscopic or thoracic myotomy is more effective than either botulinum toxin injection or pneumatic dilation
